Big Sur Thanksgiving trip with Pimpzilla (PZ)

Since rain canceled my planned Skaggs River Road trip I modified and just took a short 400 mile round trip to Big Sur.  The plan was to take 154>CA1>Big Sur/Gorda>Nacimiento-Fergusson Road>Interlake Rd>Nacimiento>home

The first half was fine, then of course I missed my turn off and never made it to Interlake Rd.

Here we are just before San Simeon.  Pimpzilla wanted a look see at the zebra donkeys

This is what he saw. They truly are an attraction.

Off we rode to Big Sur as Dash needs a good picture to get into the 2015 SOHC calendar.  Going for a third time.  Here is my handsome fellow posing:

Then it was off to Nacimiento Fergusson Road (which I found straight away).  On this twisty road there were spectacular views of the ocean and then of the woods and trees.  Around each turn was something nicer than what came before-and no cars!

And on and on and on...

And on and on and on…

Then I reached Fort Liggett.  Apparently you are not supposed to ride through. Large posted signs made that very clear. But I decided what was the worst that could happen?  A few questions?  A search of the panniers?  Sideways glances?  Eh?  A Mini Cooper didn’t want to risk it and turned around.  On I rode.  There I saw elk and deer so very sweet.

Made it though with nary a glance and then I missed my turn off.  So instead of riding on Interlake and Nacimiento Lake to Paso Robles I took Jolon Rd out to the 101.  Nothing to speak of particularly.  Then the sun started to set.  Ugh.  I forgot that it gets dark by 5pm these days.  So, I did what I dislike doing the most and rode roughly 80 miles in the dark to get home, donning of course my stylish safety vest.

Dash is a lot of things but his headlight is no better than that of a match.  Jumped off the freeway onto the 154 figuring traffic would be slower and I could sandwich between the slow pokes.  Where were the slow pokes?  Of course no where to be found.  That was a harrowing ride but I made it safely.

Pimpzilla returns to California and a sweet ride with Dash

Over Thanksgiving I will have the honor of escorting Pimpzilla (PZ) through CA.  I missed the chance to carry him on the Tombstone (Cowboy & Indian tour) but the boys at SOHC were nice enough to have him delivered to me for some sunny rides.

And this picture just cracks me up.  If I could I would do that with Dash on my left and Bernadette on my right.  Truly.  I am not joking.
