Willow Springs Vintage Racing

It was time to take Dash on a ride to see other fantastic vintage bikes.  He has been cooped up too long and the threat of wind or rain was not going to deter him one bit (though it gave me a twinge of concern-so shifted the day from Saturday to Sunday).  The best part is Walt Fulton, an amazing racer and one of the owners of Street Masters was racing his Harley Davidson and Rick (my moto husband) was going to meet me.

The day was of course windy, because it is always windy in Lancaster and at times it was downright unpleasant but I had been riding in Lancaster when it was 100x worse so I am not really complaining, just stating observations!

The bike, a Harley Davidson Aermachi.  Look at those tires-they are even smaller than Dash’s which I did not think was possible.

It was amazing to watch him ride, it was like a ballet.  So smooth.  I could have watched him all day.  Here he is in the front of the pack and within 100 yards he was in the lead.  For three laps literally everyone was choosing/following his line.  The field could not keep up with him in the corners and soon he had such a lead they couldn’t catch him in the straight aways.

After roughly 3 laps he began to fall behind.  Soon it was to pit lane and back to the garage.  When we got there his right boot was covered in oil.  He had felt the rear tire sliding out from under him and wisely bowed out of the race.

While things wrapped up Rick and I took a moment for a selfie-Rick normally smiles but apparently for selfies he is all serious!

Rick then gave me a new pin for my jacket….A Ducati pin.
