I-15>9E>59E>389>89N. (Kanab, Utah)
The day began in CA. Rick wanted to leave at 5:00 which I deftly compromised to 5:30 and eventually turned into 6:20. It was a tad dark but the weather was actually temperate. While on the 15 on our way to Vegas (which took us to Arizona then Utah then Arizona then Utah) the sun was so bright at one point that if ricks exhaust wasn’t outrageously loud I would never have known where he was.
We stopped in Baker CA (not just because it has the worlds biggest thermometer- though that is enough to get me to stop) and there just around 8:50am it read 90 degrees.
Then I looked up at exactly 9:01 and the temp said 91 degrees. That’s two omens in as many days. Yes I believe in that stuff.
Riding uninterrupted for 10 hours is absolutely my idea of heaven.
As always Nevada is a barren landscape but it is so beautiful. The colors (all beige of course) the wind rushing by, the heat, it is all so visceral. Now Vegas and even Primm (which is my preferred moto stop to rest and push home ) on the other hand is like a series of really short stories. Billboards shouting out for your attention. I was exhausted – it was like a train wreck I couldn’t keep my eyes off of them
We passed into Arizona and the color red made its appearance.
I wish I could explain the freedom and peace of riding. It is like meditation. All else falls away and when thoughts do make an appearance they are blessings
Then Utah appeared (for like the 3rd time).
After 10 hours we ended in Kanab, Utah. There we found this fabulous restaurant that was like Disneyland so we couldn’t resist having some fun
Though this first one really is me… Ha ha
And just in keeping with being out if order here is a pic if the three of us at 6 am. Ugh. 6 am.
Tomorrow we go to four corners then off to Colorado. Weeeeee
